Charity Meeting, This Sunday!

Don’t forget it’s the big Charity meeting this Sunday in aid of the Kingstone Stroke Rehabilitation Centre. Doors open 7am and we’d love you to donate a prize or 2 for the raffle 🙂

Previous post about the meeting

Kingston Rehabilitation Centre – Charity Meeting – 1st October 2017

Charity Meeting in aid of the Kingston Stoke Rehabilitation Centre at Canterbury Hospital on the 1st of October 2017

Alan gave a quick drivers briefing on the upcoming Charity meeting on the 1st of October 2017. As most (if not all) of you know our good friend and long-term supporter of the club Les Kerry suffered from a stroke in February. As a club, we wanted to hold a fund-raising event for the rehabilitation unit where Les has received much of his care and treatment so that’s exactly what we’re going to do 🙂

Doors will open at 7am on the 1st of October 2017 for track setup. Practice will start once the track has been built (probably around 8:30) and will use the club’s token based practice system. Race classes will be 2WD, 4WD and SCT. We hope the event will prove popular which may necessitate we restrict drivers to a single class however we will take a view on the day. Bring everything you’re hoping to run and we’ll sort it out one way or the other. The intention is to run a full race program starting at 9:30 with 4 qualifiers and 3 finals for all however this may need to be reduced if time becomes an issue. The club tyre rule will be lifted for the event so non-club regulars can use whatever tyres they have available. The 7.5 motor limit still applies however so if you do have to run a faster motor… slow it down!

The club will be covering 100% of the cost of the event so every penny spent / donated during the day will go to the Kingston ward.

Catering:

Hot and Cold drinks plus snacks will be available all day along with Bacon Rolls in the morning and Hotdogs for lunch. It would be helpful if you guys could let us know at the next meeting if you would like any of the hot food so we make sure we have enough available.

Race Fees:

Adults will be £10 for your first class and a donation of your choice for the second class (if we allow you to run one…)

Junior fees will be a donation of your choice.

Raffle:

Several people have asked if there will be a raffle? If it will raise a few extra quid, then yes there will so just like at the Christmas team meeting, if you would like to donate anything to the raffle, please do 🙂

Out and about

It’s the final round of Barham’s Summer Series this Sunday.

Charity Meeting – Sunday 1st of October

Every penny taken on the day from race fees, food, drink etc. will be donated to the Kingston Rehabilitation Centre at Canterbury Hospital.

2017-2018 Winter Series Dates

Hi guys and girls, we’ve finalised the dates for the FORCC winter series 17/18 to be held at Boughton Village Hall. This year, unlike others, we only have 4 meetings in the series with best 3 from 4 to count. These will be:

  • December 17th 2017
  • January 21st 2018
  • February 18th 2018
  • March 18th 2018

(all Sundays)

We only have 4 dates as we were unable to access the hall in November and we will be holding a separate meeting in October.

Many of you will know that a great friend and supporter of the club, Les Kerry, suffered a stroke earlier in the year. We have spoken to Les’ family as a club, and have decided upon a fundraising meeting, with proceeds going towards the Kingston Rehabilitation Centre at Canterbury Hospital, where patients, including Les, receive treatment to aid their recovery.

This fundraising meeting will be held on Sunday 1st October 2017 at Boughton Village Hall. Final details of the meeting are still being decided, but will be confirmed later towards the date.

Please feel free, regular or not, to attend this one off meeting and aid in the raising of funds for such a great cause.

Alan
